The Museum & Gift Shop

-The museum is located in the former T.E. Bennis home which was donated in 1982 by Dorothy Bennis Coney as a memorial to her family.

-Seven rooms of displays pertaining to the history of Punxsutawney area to include its Indian heritage, and its fame for the Groundhog Day legend.

-A separate area containing a large display of mining tools, farm implements, lumbering equipment and railroad history.

-A gift shop to supply Punxsutawney and groundhog souvenirs such as: statues, paper weights, cookbooks, cookie cutters, mugs, note paper, cards, pennants, decals and Christmas ornaments.

-Open from 1 pm to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday and 2 pm to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday during the summer-June through September. Closed on Mondays. Also open for special winter holiday events. Open by appointment by calling (814) 938-2555 (Museum) or (814) 938-5274 (Director).

The Genealogy Room

-Open Tuesday-Friday from 1pm to 4pm June through September.

-Open Thursdays from 10 am to 4 pm year round. During the summer open daily, (except Monday), from 1 pm to 4 pm , and Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.

The Photography Room

-Collection of over 35,000 negatives from early local photographers spanning the years from the 1890's to the 1960's.

-Prints can be ordered

-Photos available include early street scenes, schools, churches, family reunions, weddings and other ceremonies.
